Shopify barcode label generator

Load the products CSV that Shopify exports, choose a label size and print barcode labels for every variant: EAN-13 / UPC-A when the barcode in Shopify is valid, Code 128 otherwise. Variants with no barcode get a Code 128 label built from the SKU, clearly marked. Free, no sign-up, and the file never leaves your browser.

1. Export your products

In the Shopify admin go to Products > Export, choose All products and CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs.
The file needs the columns Handle, Title, Variant SKU and Variant Barcode (the standard export has them).
Upload it below, or paste the rows. Delete the rows you do not want labels for first if you only need some products.

2. Print

2 x 1 in: one label per page for a roll printer (Dymo, Zebra, Brother). Choose a 2 x 1 in paper size in the printer settings.
A4 sheet of 24 (3 x 8, 70 x 37 mm) or of 65 (5 x 13, 38.1 x 21.2 mm): print on matching sticker sheets. Set scale to 100% and margins to none, or the labels drift off the grid. Print one test page on plain paper first and hold it against a sheet.
Test-scan one label with the camera in your phone or your scanner before printing the whole run.

Labels built from the SKU

When a variant has no barcode in Shopify, the label carries its SKU as a Code 128 barcode, marked with a star. That is enough to scan your own shelves during a stocktake or cycle count. It is not a GS1 number: marketplaces and retail channels need registered GTINs, so add the real barcode in Shopify for anything you list there. Code 128 here uses character set B, so SKUs with accents or other non-ASCII characters are skipped and listed above the labels.

What Shopify does on its own

Shopify can export products for barcode printing and print labels with its free Barcode Printer app or Dymo software, and its own generator page makes one barcode at a time. This page makes sheets for the whole catalog from the file you already have, without installing an app or entering an email.
