Inventory CSV to count sheet
Turn an inventory CSV into a printable stock count sheet. Paste the file or pick it, choose the location, sort the lines by SKU, product name, bin or vendor, and print a sheet with a blank Counted column and a Variance column for each line. Free, no sign-up, and the file is read in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
1. Get the CSV from Shopify
- In the Shopify admin open Products > Inventory > Export.
- Pick the location you will count, or all locations.
- Choose All states, so the file has an
On hand (current)column to show variance against. - Export as CSV.
Columns in that export, as documented by Shopify: Handle, Title, Option1-3 Name and Value, SKU, HS Code, COO, Location, Bin name, Incoming, Unavailable, Committed, Available, On hand (current), On hand (new). Unconfirmed this round: help.shopify.com blocks our server, so we checked these names against our own sample and last week's notes, not against the live help page. If your file differs, the tool says which column it could not find.
Sorting by vendor: the inventory export has no Vendor column. Add your products export (Products > Export) under the sheet and the vendor is matched by SKU, then shown beside each product and offered as a sort.
Make your count sheet
Your file is read by this page in your browser. Nothing is uploaded: there is no server step, and the sheet is saved only in this browser so a reload keeps your counts.
2. Count, then reconcile
- Print the sheet (the Print button hides everything else). Tick Blind count first if counters should not see the expected quantity.
- Write each count in the blank column, or type it into the page and read the variance live.
- Variance is counted minus on hand: a negative number means stock is missing.
- When done, Download variance report gives a CSV with expected, counted and variance per line, or use the same page to get the Shopify import file.
More about the sheet itself, with a PDF to print and a sample workbook: free stocktake template.
