MiMi alternative for stocktakes
You are looking at MiMi Stocktake Inventory Count and want to compare it. Here is what its App Store listing says, what we do differently, and who should pick which. We make Countwell, so we say so up front.
What MiMi is
MiMi launched on 12 August 2026. Its listing shows one paid plan, Unlimited, at $7.49 a month, a free option for non-profits, and a rating of 5.0 from 10 reviews. It describes a three-step flow: count the whole shop, or a vendor, tag, collection or product type; review the shortages, sorted by the biggest; apply only the difference, so sales made during the count stay correct. It counts on POS or any phone, and tags what was counted so the next count finds what was missed.
What Countwell does differently
MiMi is a good, cheap choice and has real reviews. We do not claim it is worse. The difference is in the details a small shop may care about:
- Countwell asks for a reason on every line that is off (damage, transfer not received, picking error, theft, unknown) and keeps it in the count and in the CSV.
- Countwell can force a reason before a count is applied when an item is off by more than a number of units you choose.
- Countwell's CSV of every count shows the value of each difference at cost.
- Countwell has a free plan (100 counted items applied a month) and a 7-day trial on paid plans ($9 and $19).
Countwell is submitted to the Shopify App Store and waiting for review, so you cannot install it today. Every other option on this page you can.
Who should pick which
- You want the lowest paid price and an app that is installable today: MiMi at $7.49 a month.
- You want a reason and a note on every wrong line, and the money value in a CSV: Countwell, once it is in the App Store.
- One count a year and a small catalogue: the free stocktake template.
Shopify's own Stock counts are free with your plan: staff record quantities by barcode scan or by typing, and you review before stock changes.
